in this setup there is a vrayfur tag included to generate a material and grow procedual vray fur. it can be used for carpets, grass and of course fur like things. render time on examplemat scene 1min 20sec when using fur, make sure to also add the vray fur tag, and it might be that you need to adjust the distribution paramater, if it is too high your render will be very slow. also note that vray fur renderes fastest on good tesselated dense geometry. so on a plane an even subdivided plane with 1000 faces renders MUCH faster then the same sized plane with only one face.
